BACKGROUND: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) was previously regarded as a Western disease; however, its incidence is increasing in the East. The epidemiology of IBD in Asia differs significantly from the patterns in the West. AIM: To comprehensively investigate the epidemiology of IBD in South Korea, including its incidence, prevalence, medication trends, and outcomes. METHODS: We analyzed claims data from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service and Rare and Intractable Diseases (RIDs), operated by the National Health Insurance Service of South Korea. Patients with IBD were identified based on the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, and RID diagnostic codes for Crohn's disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC) from 2010 to 2018. RESULTS: In total, 14498 and 31409 patients were newly diagnosed with CD and UC, respectively, between 2010 and 2018. The annual average incidence of CD was 3.11 cases per 105 person-years, and that of UC was 6.74 cases per 105 person-years. Since 2014, the incidence rate of CD has been stable, while that of UC has steadily increased, shifting the peak age group from 50-year-olds in 2010 to 20-year-olds in 2018. The CD and UC prevalence increased consistently over the study period; the use of 5-aminosalicylates and corticosteroids gradually decreased, while that of immunomodulators and biologics steadily increased in both CD and UC. The clinical outcomes of IBD, such as hospitalization and surgery, decreased during the study period. CONCLUSION: The CD incidence has been stable since 2014, but that of UC has increased with a shift to a younger age at peak incidence between 2010 and 2018. IBD clinical outcomes improved over time, with increased use of immunomodulators and biologics.

BACKGROUND: Acute lateral ankle sprains (ALAS) are associated with long-term impairments and instability tied to altered neural excitability. Arthrogenic muscle inhibition (AMI) has been observed in this population; however, relationships with injury-related impairments are unclear, potentially due to the resting, prone position in which AMI is typically measured. Assessing AMI during bipedal stance may provide a better understanding of this relationship. METHODS: AMI was assessed in 38 young adults (19 ALAS within 72 h of injury: 10 males, 21.4 ± 2.7 years; 19 healthy controls: 10 males, 21.9 ± 2.2 years; mean ± standard deviation) using the Hoffmann reflex during bipedal stance. Electrical stimulation was administered to identify the maximal H-reflex (Hmax) and maximal motor response (Mmax) from the soleus, fibularis longus, and tibialis anterior muscles. The primary outcome measure was the Hmax/Mmax ratio. Secondary outcomes included acute symptoms (pain and swelling), postural control during bipedal stance, and self-reported function. RESULTS: No significant group-by-limb interactions were observed for any muscle. However, a significant group main effect was observed in the soleus muscle, F(1,35) = 6.82, p = 0.013, indicating significantly lower Hmax/Mmax ratios following ALAS (0.38 ± 0.20) compared to healthy controls (0.53 ± 0.16). Furthermore, lower Hmax/Mmax ratios in the soleus significantly correlated with acute symptoms and self-reported function but not with postural control. CONCLUSION: This study supports previous evidence of AMI in patients with ALAS, providing insight into neurophysiologic impacts of musculoskeletal injury. Our results suggest that assessing AMI in a standing position following acute injury may provide valuable insight into how AMI develops and guide potential therapeutic options to curb and offset the formation of joint instability.

The development of advanced materials capable of autonomous self-healing and mechanical stimulus sensing in aquatic environments holds great promise for applications in underwater soft electronics, underwater robotics, and water-resistant human-machine interfaces. However, achieving superior autonomous self-healing properties and effective sensing simultaneously in an aquatic environment is rarely feasible. Here, we present an ultrafast underwater molecularly engineered self-healing piezo-ionic elastomer inspired by the cephalopod's suckers, which possess self-healing properties and mechanosensitive ion channels. Through strategic engineering of hydrophobic C-F groups, hydrolytic boronate ester bonds, and ions, the material achieves outstanding self-healing efficiencies, with speeds of 94.5% (9.1 µm/min) in air and 89.6% (13.3 µm/min) underwater, coupled with remarkable pressure sensitivity (18.1 kPa-1) for sensing performance. Furthermore, integration of this mechanosensitive device into an underwater submarine for signal transmission and light emitting diode modulation demonstrates its potential for underwater robotics and smarter human-machine interactions.

It has been reported that migraine is more common in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) than in general. However, the impact of migraine on the development of IBD has not yet been elucidated. The aim of this study was to determine the association between migraine and the development of IBD. This nationwide population-based cohort study was conducted using the Korean National Health Insurance Service (NHIS) database. A total of 10,628,070 people aged 20 years or older who had undergone a national health examination conducted by the NHIS in 2009 were followed up until 2017. The study population was divided into two groups according to the presence or absence of migraine. We analyzed the incidence of newly developed IBD, Crohn's disease (CD), or ulcerative colitis (UC) during the follow-up period. The incidence of IBD was significantly higher in patients with migraine (adjusted hazard ratio [aHR] with 95% confidence interval [95%CI] of 1.31 [1.173-1.468], p < 0.001), CD (aHR with 95%CI of 1.58 [1.237-2.013], p < 0.001) and UC (aHR with 95%CI of 1.26 [1.106-1.424], p < 0.001) than in those without migraine. After 5 years of follow-up, those with migraine showed curves implying cumulative incidences of IBD with a steep increase, especially for CD. In subgroup analysis, migraine was associated with the risk of UC in males (aHR, 1.431 vs. 1.117; interaction p = 0.042). Migraine is significantly associated with the development of IBD. Patients with migraine should be monitored carefully for the development of IBD.

Recent studies have focused on exploring the potential of resistive random-access memory (ReRAM) utilizing halide perovskites as novel data storage devices. This interest stems from its notable attributes, including a high ON/OFF ratio, low operating voltages, and exceptional mechanical properties. Nevertheless, there have been reports indicating that memory systems utilizing halide perovskites encounter certain obstacles pertaining to their stability and dependability, mostly assessed through endurance and retention time. Moreover, the presence of these problems can potentially restrict their practical applicability. This study explores a resistive switching memory device utilizing MAPbBr3 perovskite, which demonstrates bipolar switching characteristics. The device fabrication procedure involves a low-temperature, all-solution process. For the purpose of enhancing the device's reliability, the utilization of TPBI(2,2',2″-(1,3,5-benzinetriyl)-tris(1-phenyl-1-H-benzimidazole) as an electron transfer material on the MAPbBr3 switching layer was implemented for the first time. The formation and rupture of Ag filaments in the MAPbBr3 perovskite switching layer are attributed to reduction-oxidation reactions. The TPBI is involved in the regulation of filaments during the SET and RESET processes. Hence, it can be shown that the MAPbBr3 device incorporating TPBI exhibited about 1000 endurance cycles when subjected to continuous voltage pulses. Moreover, the device consistently maintained ON/OFF ratios above 107. In contrast, the original MAPbBr3 device without TPBI demonstrated a significantly lower endurance with only 90 cycles observed. In addition, the MAPbBr3 device integrated with TPBI exhibited a retention time exceeding 3 × 103 s. The findings of this research provide compelling evidence to support the notion that electron transfer materials have promise for the development of halide perovskite memory systems owing to their favorable attributes of dependability and stability.

PURPOSE: To identify, critically appraise, and synthesize the existing evidence regarding the effects of therapeutic interventions on arthrogenic muscle inhibition (AMI) in patients with chronic ankle instability (CAI). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Two reviewers independently performed exhaustive database searches in Web of Science, PubMed, Medline, CINAHL, and SPORTDiscus. RESULTS: Nine studies were finally included. Five types of disinhibitory interventions were identified: focal ankle joint cooling (FAJC), manual therapy, fibular reposition taping (FRT), whole-body vibration (WBV), and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS). There were moderate effects of FAJC on spinal excitability in ankle muscles (g = 0.55, 95% CI = 0.03-1.08, p = 0.040 for the soleus and g = 0.54, 95% CI = 0.01-1.07, p = 0.046 for the fibularis longus). In contrast, manual therapy, FRT, WBV were not effective. Finally, 4 weeks of tDCS combined with eccentric exercise showed large effects on corticospinal excitability in 2 weeks after the intervention (g = 0.99, 95% CI = 0.14-1.85 for the fibularis longus and g = 1.02, 95% CI = 0.16-1.87 for the tibialis anterior). CONCLUSIONS: FAJC and tDCS may be effective in counteracting AMI. However, the current evidence of mainly short-term studies to support the use of disinhibitory interventions is too limited to draw definitive conclusions.


Therapeutic interventions on arthrogenic muscle inhibition (AMI) in patients with chronic ankle instability are scarce.Current studies incorporate mainly short-term therapeutic interventions.Focal ankle joint cooling seems effective to treat AMI.Several weeks of transcranial direct current stimulation may also be effective to counteract arthrogenic muscle inhibition but more studies are needed.

BACKGROUND: Intestinal Behçet's disease (BD) is characterized by typical gastrointestinal ulcers in patients with BD followed by complications such as bleeding, perforation and fistula. Biologic agents are currently under active investigation to delay the disease course. Various data regarding infliximab are available, but there is relatively lack of data regarding adalimumab. METHODS: This was a multicenter, real-world prospective observational study to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of adalimumab in intestinal BD. The primary endpoint was disease activity at each follow up, including disease activity index for intestinal Behçet's disease (DAIBD), serum C-reactive protein (CRP) level, and endoscopic findings. The secondary endpoint was the incidence of adverse drug reactions (ADRs). RESULTS: A total of 58 patients were enrolled and 8 of them were excluded. Adverse events were reported in 72.0% of patients with 122 events. ADRs were reported in 24.0% with 28 events. For adverse events, arthralgia was most commonly reported (13.1%: 16/122) and only one experienced critical adverse event (0.82%, 1/122: death due to stroke). On multivariable regression analysis, a longer disease duration was significantly associated with decreased ADRs [Odds ratio 0.976 (0.953-0.999, 95% CI); p = 0.042]. Clinical response rates as assessed by DAIBD were 90.9% at Week 12 and 89.7% at Week 56, respectively. The mean serum CRP level at baseline was significantly decreased after 12 weeks (3.91 ± 4.93 to 1.26 ± 2.03 mg/dL; p = 0.0002). CONCLUSION: Adalimumab was found to be safe and effective in Korean patients with intestinal BD. A longer disease duration was significantly associated with decreased ADRs.

Biofilm is one of the major problems in food industries and is difficult to be removed or prevented by conventional sanitizers. In this review, we discussed the extracellular matrix-degrading enzymes as a strategy to control biofilms of foodborne pathogenic and food-contaminating bacteria. The biofilms can be degraded by using the enzymes targeting proteins, polysaccharides, extracellular DNA, or lipids which mainly constitute the extracellular polymeric substances of biofilms. However, the efficacy of enzymes varies by the growth medium, bacterial species, strains, or counterpart microorganisms due to a high variation in the composition of extracellular polymeric substances. Several studies demonstrated that the combined treatment using conventional sanitizers or multiple enzymes can synergistically enhance the biofilm removal efficacies. In this review, the application of the immobilized enzymes on solid substrates is also discussed as a potential strategy to prevent biofilm formation on food contact surfaces.

Soft robotics systems are currently under development using ionic electroactive polymers (i-EAP) as soft actuators for the human-machine interface. However, this endeavor has been impeded by the dilemma of reconciling the competing demands of force and strain in i-EAP actuators. Here, the authors present a novel design called "ions-silica percolated ionic dielectric elastomer (i-SPIDER)", which exhibits ionic liquid-confined silica microstructures that effectively resolve the chronic issue of conventional i-EAP actuators. The i-SPIDER actuator demonstrates remarkable electromechanical conversion capacity at low voltage, thanks to improved ion accumulation facilitated by interpreting electrode polarization at the electrolyte-electrode interface. This approach concurrently enhances both strain (by approximately 1.52%) and force (by roughly 1.06 mN) even at low Young's modulus (merely 5.9 MPa). Additionally, by demonstrating arachnid-inspired soft robots endowed with user-desired tasks through control of various form factors, the development of soft robots using the i-SPIDER that can concomitantly enhance strain and force holds promise as a compelling avenue for ushering in the next generation of miniaturized, low-powered soft robotics.

Background/Aims: : Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PJP) is a rare but potentially fatal infection. This study was conducted to investigate the risk factors for PJP in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients. Methods: : This nationwide, population-based study was conducted in Korea using claims data. Cases of PJP were identified in patients diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (UC) or Crohn's disease (CD) between 2010 and 2017, and the clinical data of each patient was analyzed. Dual and triple therapy was defined as the simultaneous prescription of two or three of the following drugs: steroids, calcineurin inhibitors, immunomodulators, and biologics. Results: : During the mean follow-up period (4.6±2.3 years), 84 cases of PJP were identified in 39,462 IBD patients (31 CD and 53 UC). For CD patients, only age at diagnosis >40 years (hazard ratio [HR], 6.12; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.58 to 23.80) was significantly associated with the risk of PJP, whereas in UC patients, diagnoses of diabetes (HR, 2.51; 95% CI, 1.19 to 5.31) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (HR, 3.41; 95% CI, 1.78 to 6.52) showed significant associations with PJP risk. Triple therapy increased PJP risk in both UC (HR, 3.90; 95% CI, 1.54 to 9.88) and CD patients (HR, 5.69; 95% CI, 2.32 to 14.48). However, dual therapy increased PJP risk only in UC patients (HR, 2.53; 95% CI, 1.36 to 4.70). Additionally, 23 patients (27%) received intensive care treatment, and 10 (12%) died within 30 days. Conclusions: : PJP risk factors differ in CD and UC patients. Considering the potential fatality of PJP, prophylaxis should be considered for at-risk IBD patients.

An iontronic-based artificial tactile nerve is a promising technology for emulating the tactile recognition and learning of human skin with low power consumption. However, its weak tactile memory and complex integration structure remain challenging. We present an ion trap and release dynamics (iTRD)-driven, neuro-inspired monolithic artificial tactile neuron (NeuroMAT) that can achieve tactile perception and memory consolidation in a single device. Through the tactile-driven release of ions initially trapped within iTRD-iongel, NeuroMAT only generates nonintrusive synaptic memory signals when mechanical stress is applied under voltage stimulation. The induced tactile memory is augmented by auxiliary voltage pulses independent of tactile sensing signals. We integrate NeuroMAT with an anthropomorphic robotic hand system to imitate memory-based human motion; the robust tactile memory of NeuroMAT enables the hand to consistently perform reliable gripping motion.

Acinetobacter causes nosocomial infections and its biofilm formation can contribute to the survival on dry surfaces such as hospital environments. Thus, biofilm quantification and visualization are important methods to assess the potential of Acinetobacter strains to cause nosocomial infections. The biofilms forming on the surface of the microplate can be quantified in terms of volume and cell numbers. Biofilm volumes can be quantified by staining using crystal violet, washing, destaining using ethanol, then measuring the solubilized dye using a microplate reader. To quantify the number of cells embedded in the biofilms, the biofilms are scrapped off using cell scrapers, harvested in the saline, vigorously agitated in the presence of glass beads, and spread on Acinetobacter agar. Then, the plates are incubated at 30 °C for 24-42 h. After incubation, the red colonies are enumerated to estimate the number of cells in biofilms. This viable count method can also be useful for counting Acinetobacter cells in mixed-species biofilms. Acinetobacter biofilms can be visualized using fluorescent dyes. A commercially available microplate designed for microscopic analysis is employed to form biofilms. Then, the bottom-surface attached biofilms are stained with SYTO9 and propidium iodide dyes, washed, then visualized with confocal laser scanning microscopy.

Psoriasis, a chronic and systemic inflammatory disorder characterized by activation of the interleukin (IL)-23/IL-17 axis, may be associated with the intestinal microbiota through the so-called "gut-skin axis." Clusterin is a glycoprotein ubiquitously distributed in mammalian tissues; however, its role in psoriasis is unclear. Therefore, we evaluated the role of clusterin in psoriatic skin inflammation, systemic inflammation, and colitis using a murine model of IMQ-induced psoriasis. In IMQ-treated clusterin-knockout (clusterin-/-) mice, the expressions of inflammatory cytokines in clusterin-silenced human keratinocytes and intestinal microbial composition were analyzed. We also examined clusterin expression in the skin tissues of patients with psoriasis. IMQ-induced psoriatic skin inflammation is suppressed in clusterin-/- mice. Long-term administration of IMQ induced systemic inflammation and colitis; however, both were alleviated by the genetic deletion of clusterin. Genetic silencing of clusterin in human keratinocytes inhibited the production of inflammatory cytokines involved in the initiation and progression of psoriasis. The composition of the intestinal microbiota in IMQ-treated clusterin-/- and wild-type mice was different. Genetic deletion of clusterin suppressed the increase in the Firmicutes/Bacteroidetes (F/B) ratio. Skin tissues of patients with psoriasis showed high clusterin expression. In conclusion, inhibition of clusterin decreased psoriatic skin inflammation, systemic inflammation, colitis, and altered the F/B ratio in an IMQ-induced murine psoriasis model.

Neural interfaces play a major role in modulating neural signals for therapeutic purposes. To meet the demand of conformable neural interfaces for developing bioelectronic medicine, recent studies have focused on the performance of electrical neurostimulators employing soft conductors such as conducting polymers and electronic or ionic conductive hydrogels. However, faradaic charge injection at the interface of the electrode and nerve tissue causes irreversible gas evolution, oxidation of electrodes, and reduction of biological ions, thus causing undesired tissue damage and electrode degradation. Here we report a conformable neural interface engineering based on multicross-linked membrane-ionogel assembly (termed McMiA), which enables nonfaradaic neurostimulation without irreversible charge transfer reaction. The McMiA consists of a genipin-cross-linked biopolymeric ionogel coupled with a dopamine-cross-linked graphene oxide membrane to prevent ion exchange between biological and synthetic McMiA ions and to function as a bioadhesive forming covalent bonds with the target tissues. In addition, the demonstration of bioelectronic medicine via the McMiA-based neurostimulation of sciatic nerves shows the enhanced clinical utility in treating the overactive bladder syndrome. As the McMiA-based neural interface is soft, robust for bioadhesion, and stable in a physiological environment, it can offer significant advancement in biocompatibility and long-term operability for neural interface engineering.

OBJECTIVES: There are a few studies about the relationship between inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and atopic dermatitis (AD). It is implied that both diseases have common pathophysiologic mechanisms and can affect each other. However, little information is available on the effect of AD on the clinical course of patients with IBD. METHODS: This is a multi-center, retrospective, observational study. We define AD as a chronic eczematoid dermatosis diagnosed by dermatologists. Patients with concurrent IBD and AD were defined as a case group. Age, gender, and IBD subtype-matched patients without AD were included as a reference group. RESULTS: The numbers of patients in the case and reference groups were 61 and 122 respectively. There was a significantly shorter biologics-free survival in the case group than that in the reference group according to the multivariable-adjusted Cox regression analysis with the onset age, disease duration, smoking status, use of steroid, use of immunomodulator, initial C-reactive protein, initial erythrocyte sedimentation rate, presence of other allergic diseases and initial disease severity [hazard ratio (HR) 1.828, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.022-3.271, p = .042]. The trend was consistent in the subgroup analysis with ulcerative colitis (HR 3.498, 95% CI 1.066-11.481, p = .039), but not with Crohn's disease (HR 1.542, 95% CI 0.720-3.301, p = .265). CONCLUSIONS: AD showed a significant effect on the biologics-free survival of patients with IBD and especially the UC subtype. Further mechanistic research is required to elucidate the pathogenesis of AD on the clinical course of IBD.

Background: The maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax), as determined on combined single-photon emission computed tomography and conventional computed tomography (SPECT/CT), can be an indicator of biomechanical changes due to the load redistribution effect after medial open-wedge high tibial osteotomy (MOW-HTO). Purpose/Hypothesis: The purposes of this study were to (1) analyze serial changes in the SUVmax in the medial, lateral, and patellofemoral compartments after MOW-HTO and (2) identify the contributing factors that affect changes in the SUVmax. The hypotheses were that (1) an elevated SUVmax in the medial compartment would be transferred to the lateral compartment because of the load redistribution effect and (2) there would be contributing factors that cause SUVmax changes. Study Design: Case series; Level of evidence, 4. Methods: Included were 67 knees that were treated with biplanar MOW-HTO between March 2019 and December 2020. SPECT/CT was performed immediately after surgery and at 3 months and 1 year postoperatively to determine the serial load redistribution effect of MOW-HTO. The Pearson correlation coefficient was used to evaluate the relationship between SUVmax and radiological parameters, and subgroup analyses were conducted to compare the SUVmax according to associated cartilage procedures and the weightbearing line ratio (WBLR). Results: The SUVmax in the medial and lateral compartments increased at 3 months but decreased at 1 year postoperatively. The load redistribution effect was most prominent in the anterior zones of the femur (medial: P = .041; lateral: P = .012). In the patella, the SUVmax decreased in both the medial and the lateral zones at all follow-up times (P < .001 for all). The SUVmax in the anterolateral and posterolateral articular zones of the femur increased with a greater preoperative WBLR (r = 0.256, P = .039; and r = 0.261, P = .036, respectively). Patients who underwent an associated cartilage procedure had a significantly higher SUVmax in the anteromedial and posteromedial articular zones of both the femur and the tibia at 1 year postoperatively (P ≤ .002 for all). Conclusion: After MOW-HTO, the unloading effect in the anteromedial articular zone of the femur was the most significant. A greater SUVmax in the lateral zones of the femur was observed in cases of overcorrection. The SUVmax in the medial zones was higher postoperatively in patients with associated cartilage procedures.

BACKGROUND: Prevalence of depression and anxiety are known to be increased in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), but it is unclear whether such elevations adversely affect IBD outcomes. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to investigate the association between depression or anxiety and clinical outcomes of IBD. METHOD: Using claims data from the South Korean National Health Insurance Service (NHIS), patients with IBD were identified by codes of the International Classification of Disease, 10th Revision (ICD-10) and the Rare/Intractable Disease (RID) registration program for years 2010 to 2017. ICD-10 codes were also used to identify depression and anxiety in this population. Primary study endpoints were IBD-related outcomes, including emergency room (ER) visits, hospitalizations, and surgeries during the follow-up period. RESULTS: Our cohort included 32,867 patients with IBD, of whom 3794 (11.5%) experienced depression and anxiety during the 6-year median follow-up period. In multivariate analysis, comorbid depression and anxiety were associated with increased risks of ER visits (hazard ratio [HR] = 1.34, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.19-1.51) and hospitalizations (HR = 1.24, 95% CI: 1.12-1.37), whereas surgical risk was not different for IBD patients with and without depression and anxiety. There was no differential effect of depression and anxiety on outcomes in IBD patients, but depression was more closely associated with outcomes in CD patients and anxiety in UC patients. CONCLUSION: In patients with IBD, comorbid depression and anxiety are associated with increased risks of ER visits and hospitalizations, but not surgery. These associations are more pronounced for depression in CD patients and for anxiety in UC patients.

Map space composition is the first step in ship route planning. In this study, a map modeling method for path planning is proposed. This method incorporates the safety margin based on the theory of geographic space existing in coastal waters, maneuvering space according to ship characteristics, and the psychological buffer space of a ship navigator. First, the obstacle area was segmented using the binary method-a segmentation method-based on the international standard electronic chart image. Next, the margin space was incorporated through the morphological algorithm for the obstacle area. Finally, to minimize the space lost during the route search, the boundary simplification of the obstacle area was performed through the concave hull method. The experimental results of the proposed method resulted in a map that minimized the area lost due to obstacles. In addition, it was found that the distance and path-finding time were reduced compared to the conventional convex hull method. The study shows that the map modeling method is feasible, and that it can be applied to path planning.

BACKGROUND: The fecal immunochemical test (FIT) is widely used in screening for colorectal cancer (CRC), but FIT results can be positive for diseases other than CRC. OBJECTIVE: We investigated the association between positive results of FIT and the incidence of dementia using a nationwide database. METHODS: FIT-positive participants were collected from a database provided by the Korean National Health Insurance Service. RESULTS: The incidence of all kinds of dementia was higher in FIT-positive than FIT-negative subjects (p < 0.0001). FIT-positive participants had a higher risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD) (p < 0.0001) and vascular dementia (p = 0.0002), compared to participants with FIT negativity. The risk of all kinds of dementia or AD in FIT-positive participants was higher in younger (age < 65 years) than older participants (p < 0.0001 for all kinds of dementia; p = 0.0002 for AD). CONCLUSION: FIT positivity was correlated with an increased risk of dementia, especially in participants under 65 years of age. The study suggests that clinicians can consider dementia when FIT-positive participants fail to show any malignancies.
